The Boudoir living area has a smart TV, Netflix and all cable tv channels, an air roaster, induction element, stone bench top, gold knife set, coffee plunger and the list goes on. Adjoining to this architecturally designed open air garden terrace, brazier and soon to be on site bbq teppanyaki grill. 1km to the town centre, full of gourmet eateries, only 9km drive to the Hobbiton movie set, 30min to Tauranga / Mt Maunganui, 45min to Rotorua & 1hr 45min to Auckland.

The House of Hazel itself is the original property brought by my Nana & Grandad in the 1950’s. I have so many fond memories growing up there as a young girl with my Granded, Geo, and my Nana, Hazel. Hazel's Homestead as well as the entire HOH property, has undergone a complete renovation. The House of Hazel consists of 4 very different accommodation options on an oversized residential section. Hazel's Boudoir is a work of art, from the moment you enter the Boudoir it is the Alice in Wonderland of places to stay, the room is laced in rich teals and deep golds, hand selected sculptures and works of art from around the world. Hazel's Boudoir has a king size massage bed in the master suite, smart tvs, an apple tv and a spacious bathroom. Hazel's Boudoir also enjoys a landscape designed private outdoor area with a weber bbq and brazier and some marsh mellows to melt on the fire. Relax and watch a movie or surf every SKY TV channel while playing a limited edition LOTR board game. Enjoy the warm sun drenched days or the beautiful New Zealand evenings in your own private outdoor area while listening to the birds nest for the night. Guest Access:
You will have access to your own private Boudoir and fully equipped outdoor area, filled with everything you will need during your stay. Off street parking right next door to your Boudoir is provided free of charge. On premise there is also a commercial laundry for all guests to use. The House of Hazel is a boutique accommodation offering in the heart of Matamata.

The House of Hazel is very special to me. During the birth of the project I decided to pay homage to my Nana, a forward thinking and wise woman, naming the property, The House of Hazel, after her. She was warm, welcoming and her baking tins were always full to the brim for the family! Nana loved birds and cultivated a gathering place for local birds by feeding them a loaf a day! We have kept her bird houses and you wont miss the sounds of the birds nesting in the evening or singing away to each other during the day. We have done our best to anticipate your needs and have your accommodation well appointed for your stay. You will find everything from a hair dryer, iron etc right through to every cable tv channel, washing facilities, cookie time biscuits for your tea and chocolate on your pillow!
We use only green, organic and eco friendly cleaning materials and supplies to insure that we are doing our bit for the environment.
Also we have commercial laundry facilities available 24/7 for guests. Please feel free to enquire for further info :-)
The gym available is located at 30 Tainui Street, Matamata approximately 1km away from the House of Hazel. There is a small fee to use the gym.

You’ll find at The House of Hazel you’re oh so central to everything you will need while you’re in Matamata. Located in a residential neighbourhood, circa 1km to Matamata town centre where you will find bars, restaurants and shops as well as the i-site bus stop to Hobbiton Movie Set & Tours. We are around the corner from Matamata Racecourse and are on the way to Hobbiton Movie Set & Tours. Matamata truly is very centrally positioned, putting all tourist attractions in the region within reach. Walking routes and hiking trails are plentiful as well as new cycle ways and after a day of exercise there are many different natural hot springs to enjoy.
Matamata is a very walkable place if you are so inclined, otherwise it is easy to drive around in. There are also taxi’s operating most of the day, everyday. HOH is 1km to Matamata town centre, 9km to Hobbiton Movie Set & Tours. There are buses that stop through Matamata to head to other towns and cities in NZ.
